We are working hard to connect with our community to bring our Food Access program to those in need. We support youth living on the streets, attending school, college, or living in TAY housing to ensure they have access to food from snacks, groceries, food gift cards, you name it.
In collaboration with one of our volunteers, Mario, who is also a teacher at a local bay area school, we are looking at how we can help teachers and bring our Food Access program to their school. “As a teacher at a low socioeconomic school, providing snacks to students is essential because many of them may face food insecurity at home, impacting their ability to focus and learn effectively. Hunger can be a significant barrier to concentration and engagement in the classroom, leading to lower academic performance and decreased participation. By offering snacks, I help meet a basic need, ensuring students have the energy to stay focused and attentive throughout the day. This small gesture fosters a more equitable learning environment, where all students have the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their personal circumstances”
With food prices rising we’ve reached out to the community to see how we can help to ensure no youth experiencing homelessness goes without food.
