We are so proud to announce that StandUp for Kids – Orange County’s Director of Operations Carlia Oldfather has been recognized by the City of Mission Viejo for her outstanding efforts in the community. The Veterans of the Year award celebrates one male and female resident veteran within Mission Viejo for their community service.
Serving as a Sergeant in the Army, Carlia was regularly recognized for her efforts as a Signals Intelligence Analyst. Carlia is also a mother of four, and since her military career she’s gone on to help the neediest in our communities; volunteering at StandUp For Kids, as well as the local Mission Viejo Kiwanis chapter and Boys and Girls Club.
“Carlia has worked tirelessly to forge new partnerships with school districts throughout Orange County, multiplying the youth we serve many times over.” said Justine Palmore, StandUp for Kids – Orange County’s Executive Director. “Carlia possesses an indomitable force of will, which makes her an exceptional advocate for our kids. Even more importantly though, Carlia possesses the unique ability to forge relationships with kids who, quite possibly, had never experienced a caring relationship before. Carlia listens and sees, and kids trust her. Carlia Oldfather is truly deserving of the award for Veteran of the Year.”
Carlia was officially recognized by the City of Mission Viejo on November 11 during the Veterans Day ceremony held at the Norman P. Murray Community Center in Mission Viejo, California.
