StandUp for Kids – Orange County
In recent months, StandUp for Kids – Orange County has worked to find new and creative ways to continue providing critical services to homeless and at-risk youth in our community. As a non-profit with a small staff, we rely heavily on our volunteers. Their responsibilities range from delivering food to youth to telling our story via social media and our website.
We want to thank all of our volunteers for their work in helping us serve youth in our community during this challenging time. We want to show our appreciation by highlighting Belle Riegg, a volunteer who has been with us since last fall.
Belle is an Orange County native, a recent graduate of California State University, Fullerton, and June’s Supporter of the Month. While getting her degree in public relations at CSUF, Belle sought out internship opportunities throughout the area.
“I applied to so many places,” Belle said. “I was really happy to find StandUp for Kids and so glad when they offered me a position.”
Belle connected with StandUp for Kids’ mission of helping homeless youth by providing mentoring, housing, and life navigation services. Her exposure to seeing at-risk youth at CSUF reaffirmed her desire to help this organization. StandUp For Kids – Orange County is pleased to have Belle as part of our team. Since joining us last fall as an intern, Belle has been a tremendous asset to the organization. As part of the marketing team, her creativity and skilled content creation have helped us spread our message further.
For Belle, StandUp for Kids gave her a unique opportunity to apply the skills she was learning in the classroom in a way that would make a difference.
“I always knew I wanted to be in a position that would let me make a positive impact through my work,” Belle said. “StandUp for Kids has not only helped me develop my skills and gain experience but has shown me that I can use them in a meaningful way no matter where I end up in my career.”
Belle has now extended her internship with StandUp for Kids twice and credits the camaraderie among the volunteers as a key reason she keeps coming back.
When asked what she would say to someone interested in volunteering, Belle said they will be amazed at the impact they can have. No matter what the role, whether they work directly with homeless youth or supporting behind the scenes, every little thing matters and can make a lasting difference for youth in need.
If you, like Belle, are passionate about helping youth in need and connect to StandUp for Kids’ mission of providing support and mentorship to homeless youth, we encourage you to get involved. StandUp for Kids – Orange County has a robust program with many volunteers who do everything from developing content on our website and lobbying local officials, to mentoring and tutoring at-risk and homeless youth.
