In 2019, a special bond was formed between Kyle and his mentor through StandUp for Kids. Kyle’s motivation to graduate stemmed from being the first in his family to achieve this milestone. With dedication and support, they embarked on a journey that would lead Kyle to success.
Through two years of hard work and determination, Kyle and his mentor navigated through challenges, including a pandemic lockdown. Despite the obstacles, they never wavered in their commitment to achieving Kyle’s goal of graduation. When the time came for Kyle to don his cap and gown, his mentor even lent him their own high school attire for a heartfelt photo to share with his family.
After graduation, Kyle explored his options and discovered a passion for information security during a tour of Gwinnett Tech. With his mentor’s guidance, he applied for the program and began his studies. Throughout each semester, Kyle diligently kept his mentor updated on his progress, sharing his grades and accomplishments along the way.
As Kyle nears the completion of his associate’s program, he has set his sights on pursuing a bachelor’s degree. His determination and drive to continue his education are a testament to the support and encouragement he has received from his mentor. Their bond has grown strong, transcending the mentee/mentor relationship, and evolving into a lifelong connection.
Today, Kyle and his mentor continue to stay in touch, with his mentor taking on a supportive role akin to that of an aunt. Their journey together has been filled with challenges and triumphs, but above all, it has been marked by a shared commitment to growth and success.
