StandUp for Kids is pleased to announce the addition of Laura Ann Smith to its volunteer Board of Directors.
Laura Ann is a legal executive with considerable experience in working with boards of directors and management teams and advising on matters related to corporate governance, securities law, financing transactions, and sustainability.
Laura Ann is currently Vice President, Assistant General Counsel – Corporate & Securities Law and Assistant Secretary of Tailored Brands Inc. She also serves as Vice Chairman of the Corporate and Securities Law Network of the Association of Corporate Counsel.
What drew Laura Ann, in part, to StandUp for Kids was our service and commitment to youth through their 25th birthdays.
“One of the things that I love about StandUp for Kids is the fact that a youth is defined all the way into the early twenties. I think that just because you’re legally an adult at eighteen, most people are not ready to take care of themselves completely independently at that stage.”
She added, “I think that having the ability to make a difference in any child’s life is an amazing chance for anybody to have.”
Laura Ann received her J.D., magna cum laude, from Baylor University School of Law and her B.A. in American Studies, cum laude, from Southwestern University.
She resides in Houston, Texas where she lives with her husband and son.
